Nellie Taylor Ross was born November 29, 1876 in St. Joseph Missouri. Her mother, Elizabeth Blair Green Taylor, was a descendent from a family that claimed a distant kinship with George Washington. While visiting relatives in Tennessee, she met and fell in love with a young lawyer, William Bradford Ross He moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, before marrying Nellie Taylor Ross in 1902. She then became the first woman Governor. She died in 1977.
