Each year, my library students collaborate with a school in another part of the country or the world. This year, we are excited to connect with Wyoming Indian Elementary. Being from Kentucky, most of my students have never visited Wyoming, and few have any real world knowledge of the Native American culture. My fifth graders will be researching Wyoming in general, as well as the Arapaho and Shoshone history and culture. They will update this blog with their research results. My fourth graders will research our home state of Kentucky and share thier research with our new friends.
The world is truly a much smaller place than we imagine it to be. It is important for us to know and understand each other, and that is the purpose behind this project. I want my students to realize that kids in other parts of the world are basically the same as they are.
Enjoy, and come back often!
